What makes the employee right for you?

Is this person your best friend, neighbor looking for work? You have the right to choose the right person with the right skills and the right attitude. Attitude…how often do you think about what that employees viewpoints about work, the customer and life. Whatever THEIR life experiences which may be very different than yours will affect the outcome of YOUR business relationships with YOUR customers. Often I hear my own customers complain how their personal customer service was at another store by the representative standing in front of them on their phones, looking disinterested in what they are doing.
I say again, the person you hire for your business is an extension of the message you want to put out into the world. I will give you a great example. How does your answering service sound when you call the salon when you are not there? Does the message, tone, speed of message represent the business or does it sound rushed? This is a simple example but all too often these small tidbits of your business are overlooked but send huge messages about your business. When a customer walks into your salon are they greeted properly with a scripted voice? Is the message consistent with what is on your website? Is your staff educated about your prices and services. This is a lot more involved then what I’m discussing here because this is about creating your business the way you want it designed to feel, experience, sound, smell, etc.
Tell me what your environment is like happy or not. Love to hear what you have to say. If you love your employees tell me about them. If you aren’t….tell us about them.
